Texas continues to rank among the nation's top destinations

For new residents in the first half of 2026, with two Houston-area communities—Katy and Cypress—emerging as some of the fastest-growing ZIP codes in the country.

More than 5.3 million moves were recorded across the U.S. during the first six months of 2026, with eight of the nation's top 10 fastest-growing ZIP codes located in Texas. Katy's 77493 ZIP code ranked No. 4 nationwide, with nearly 2,700 recorded moves. The 77493 area stretches from Houston Executive Airport westward, extending east toward Park Row, with boundaries reaching between I-10 and U.S. 90 to the south and as far north as Katy Hockley Road and Sharp Road.

Over the past several years, Katy has experienced remarkable growth, becoming one of the Houston area's most sought-after suburban communities. Its popularity is driven by newly built homes, highly rated schools, and convenient access to major employment centers in west Houston. Continued residential development has helped meet the growing demand from families looking for more space and a suburban lifestyle.

Today, Katy is home to approximately 62,300 residents, with a median household income of $118,464 and a median home price of $321,900. Cypress also continues to attract new residents, with its 77433 ZIP code ranking No. 7 nationally after recording 2,518 moves during the first half of 2026. The community's population has grown to more than 112,000 residents.

Known for its expansive master-planned neighborhoods, newer homes, strong school systems, and proximity to major employment hubs, Cypress remains a top choice for families. As Houston continues to expand westward, the area has become one of the region's most desirable places to live. The median home price in the 77433 ZIP code is $384,400.
